Our School Recognised for Outstanding Reading Growth

We are proud to share that our school has received formal congratulations from the NSW Department of Education Executive Director in recognition of our excellent 2025 NAPLAN reading results. Significant growth in both Year 3 and Year 5 reading exceeds our School Excellence Plan reading goal and highlights the strength of our whole-school approach to teaching and learning.

This achievement reflects the dedication and expertise of our teachers, the commitment of our students, and the strong partnerships we share with families and our wider community. We remain committed to building on this success through high-quality teaching, strong leadership and a continued focus on ensuring every student is supported to achieve their best.

State Spelling Bee: Congratulations to Ken Hong! He made it all the way to the state level in the 2025 NSW Premier's Spelling Bee in the junior primary division.

Bonnyrigg Kids Write: The Aboriginal Education Officers and students at Bonnyrigg Public School have created a series of published picture books together with community stakeholders to teach the Darug Language in South West Sydney. Listen to the Podcast on ABC Radio

Bonnyrigg School Farm: Our school farm has been featured in many newspapers and even on television! The Daily Telegraph has a video featured on their website. Animal Farm Video

Exceeding Rating for Preschool: Our preschool had their external evaluation in August of 2025 and received an outstanding result! The Bonnyrigg Public School preschool has received a rating of Exceeding National Standards in all areas.

Regional Athletics: Congratulations to Ilyssa Sioli, Harlan Stanley and Suita Uini for representing Bonnyrigg Public School in a variety of events!

A year at our school

Badging Assembly - student leaders receive their school badge from a parent or teacher of their choice at our badging ceremony

Lunar New Year - students and community groups perform

Cross Country - we race in a track around the school

Easter Hat Parade - we parade in our hats, then receive a gift from a secret bunny back in class

Harmony Day and Multicultural Events - we celebrate our cultural heritage with dress, food and dancing

Athletics Carnival - we compete in a variety of track and field events

Book Week Costume Parade and Trivia - we wear a costume with our favourite book character for the parade, then compete in book related trivia for prizes

Science Week - we watch a science show in the hall and then go back to class to engage in fun and exciting science experiments

Open Classrooms for Education Week - parents and carers are invited into classroom

NAIDOC Week - we engage in a variety of activities celebrating indigenous culture

Learning Conversations - a three-way conversation between students, parents and teachers where learning and achievements are celebrated

100 Days of Learning - Kindergarten students celebrate their first 100 days of school! This year they dressed up as if they were one hundred years old

Excursions - we get to consolidate and expand on our learning through a variety of excursions throughout the year

Swim scheme - a 10 day program where students attend 45 minute lessons daily to build water confidence and survival skills

Camp - each year students from Stage 3 attend a fun and fantastic camp

Bonnyrigg Spectacular - we perform songs, dances and plays for our parents, carers and the wider community in a huge end of the year spectacular concert!
