Schools as Community Centres (SaCC)
The Schools as Community Centres (SaCC) program is an initiative of the NSW Department of Education to support families in their local communities to enhance the early learning and wellbeing of children from birth to 8 years. The SaCC program contributes to the NSW Department of Education’s Strategic plan and is coordinated by the Curriculum Early Years and Primary Learners (CEYPL) business unit within the Curriculum and Reform directorate.
SaCC programs take a holistic approach to early learning and wellbeing through 4 interconnected elements of collaborative service delivery:
- early development of children
- key life transitions
- positive parenting
- safe, healthy and connected communities.
Within the SaCC Program Framework, each school, in consultation with its community, identifies local priorities to improve early learning and wellbeing outcomes for children from birth to 8 years of age.
